Indian Hair Oils To Revisit (2): Dabur Amla Hair Oil

"Dabur Amla Oil is the second of the Indian hair oils that I plan to revisit.  This exercise is to firstly use up these old products and secondly to see if I can and should incorporate these into my regimen going forward or just dismiss them."

It Claims:

Dabur Amla Hair Oil contains the goodness of Amla (Indian Gooseberry) with a blend of vegetable and mineral oils to promote long, healthy hair.  Regular application can assist in reducing split ends and minor hair loss.

Massage your scalp with Dabur Amla Hair Oil and leave overnight for best results.   Shampoo next morning to get healthy, lustrous, moisturised hair.

Results On My HAIR:

I currently have half a bottle of this oil left and to be honest, other than the fact this oil has mineral oil as the first ingredient, I don't really rememeber having any other reason for stopping using it.  Maybe it is because I discovered the wonderfulness that is coconut oil and since then all other oils have well and truly taken a back seat, with the exception of hemp seed oil, which reminds me, I need to stock up on some more hemp seed oil....

Anwway, I digress...........

I used to use this oil as a pre poo, although I never pre poo'd with this overnight.  I also used to add it to my henna gloss treatments and sometimes to my deep conditioners.  I remember when I used this as a pre poo treatment I was always pretty impressed with the results. My hair always felt soft and alson strengthed after use.

On the downside I was never too keen on the scent of this oil.  It is quite strong and overpowering for me so I could never use this in anyway that didn't involve washing it out afterwards.  In some ways the smell of this oil reminds me of a rather more pungent oil version of  good ol' fashioned Dax hair grease. I never did like the smell of that much either.

How I Plan To Revist This Product:

I think I will incorporate this oil into my pre poo treatments and definitely my henna gloss mixes.  I may even use it in my relaxer, instead of using olive oil.  For now I will leave it out of my deep conditioner mixes and continue to just add natural oils.

I am interersted to see how this oil reacts to my new hair texture and whether the two get along and become good friends.  I really don't think my hair minds mineral oil.  I think I just jumped on that bandwagon too and changed my regimen in favour of my natural oils, in particular my main love Mr Coconut Oil.  If adding Amla Oil to my regimen works out I will reincorporate this, perhaps purchasing a natural amla oil instead.
