Bantu Knot Out

"At the end of my last wash day I decided to do a bantu knot out as I didn't have access to my rollers and hooded dryer."

In addition to this, I was kinda over wearing my hair straight for now as it always feels more moisturised when I wear it in curlier.

Below are a few pics of my bantu knot out which I have been wearing daily and resetting for the past couple of nights.  I like it but my hair is growing longer and when the curls drop my hair brushes against my shoulders which makes me cringe so I just put it in some form of an updo within an hour of doing my hair!

Me with my bantu knots still in this morning

I never ever like the front of my bantu knot outs. I am not really a regular headband wearing type of girl.
But......now I can cornrow I can add a braid in the front!
Tomorrow evening I will do a protein treatment on my hair, cowash and then set my hair in cornrows for either a few days of wearing a braid out or pop my wig on for a week to see me through the cold snap which is due to take hold in the UK over the next few days.

  2. This came out really well! I'm tempted to one, too for my wash day tomorrow, though I'm concerned about my hair brushing my shoulders, too

  3. Thanks ladies!

I can't wait to try bantu knot outs, twist outs and braid outs when my hair gets thicker! I think it will look much better.

  4. Your bantu knot out is gorgeous. Just one question: Was your hair wet when you set it or was it dry?

  5. Thanks Deb!

In the first pictures when I was wearing the black vest top, my hair had been set on almost dry hair following my wash day. I would say it was 95-98% dry.

In the other pictures when I'm wearing the striped top, I had reset the bantu knots on dry hair from the previous bantu knot out. I hadn't combed my hair prior to putting the bantu knots back in.

  6. Your bantu knots are beautiful. I was able to do these perfectly the first time I tried and I haven't been able to perfect them since. I'm going to study your pics for tips.
