"I really should have washed my hair yesterday but to be honest I didn't feel like it. I had no choice but to wash it today though as I gave my scalp a good old going over with a sulfur based growth aid and was dying to wash it out of my hair all-day-long!"
These are the steps I followed:
1. I applied Shea Goodness Growth Support Serum to my scalp heavily the night before.
It dawned on me that I haven't used any growth aides in quite a while. Once I have used up the ones I have I will probably not purchase anymore for quite a while. I will definitely be steering clear of onces that smell like sulfur as they really do stink to high heaven and I am sick of my hair smelling like some kinda variation of rotten eggs!!! Whilst I am on this hair journey taking care of my hair is one thing but having stinking hair is quite another and I don't think it is entirely necessary.
2. I applied a little hemp seed oil and EVCO to the length of my strands before applying the deep conditioner mix to dry hair.
This is what my hair looked like after I took down my hair which I had been wearing in a rolled quiff. Should have taken a picture of what it looked like 'before' I took it down....DOH!!! |
3. My dc for this wash day was made up of a little hemp seed oil, a large measure of EVCO, Elasta QP DPR 11+, Lustrasilk Shea Butter and Mango Choesterol and 10 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil.
I decided to wash my hair all going backwards again so I applied the conditioner to the back section of my hair first and then to the front in two halves (still going backwards). When I got to the front section I realised that I should have put some Roux Porosity Control in the deep conditioner and as I didn't have enough conditioner to finish the full application.
I made up a little more of the dc mix and this time included a big squirt of RPC. I applied the conditoner in small sections pretty much the same way that I would if applying relaxer to my hair. I started at my roots and then down the length concentrating on the ends. I covered my hair with a plastic bag and then sat under my heated conditioning cap for 1hr.
4. I then rinsed out the conditioner whilst in the shower and then shampoo'd my hair with Elasta Creme Conditioniong Shampoo which is a sulfate free shampoo.
5. After rinsing out the shampoo I did a black tea rinse and left it on for 3 minutes before applying Keracare Humecto Conditoner. I left this on whilst I finished up in the shower and then rinsed out both the tea and conditioner.
6. I then applied Nutrine Garlic Conditioner, left on for 1 minute and rinsed out.
7. After getting out of the shower I applied Giovanni Direct Leave In to soaking wet hair sprayed the very ends with CHI Keratin Mist and then sealed with EVCO.
8. Once my hair had air dried for 15mins I applied some Giovanni Frizz Be Gone serum and a little CHI Silk Infusion.
My hair is STILL air drying at the moment! It has15 minutes more of my time this evening then I am off to my bed with damp hair (in a bun!)!!

I thought I was heavy handed with my products, your pics make me feel like I should be doing more. Do you apply your DC like a relaxer or simply in sections?

On this occasion I was more diligent with my application and applied the conditioner like I would a relaxer. The only differences were that I used my fingers instead of my sprush and the sections of hair were about 2 inches apart instead of 1 inch.
Don't feel like you should do more. What you are currently doing is working for your hair, your fullness and length check prove that. With the products I used this time to deep condition with each of them was used for a specific reason and I used the Elasta and Lustrasilk as the base as I don't rate rate them when used alone or without oils added as they are not moisturising enough for my hair. The only conditioner that I feel I do not NEED to add to is ORS Replenishing Conditioner but I didn't want to use protein today. I also needed the black tea rinse for shedding.
